Our Story
2014
Gabriel and Michael's professional partnership began at RGF Executive Search, a leading Tokyo firm, where their shared search philosophies fueled several successful collaborations with forward-thinking companies.
Their award-winning practice helped some of the most innovative companies launch thriving businesses in Japan.
2019
100+ executives. 10 countries. All of Uber’s business lines and functions. They oversaw the hiring of all executive leaders enabling Uber’s growth across its Asia business portfolio.
2019 to 2024
With a high profile IPO on the horizon, Uber had aspirations to expand globally and unlock Asia. Gabriel and Michael joined Uber with the mission to build an in-house executive search function that would fuel the company’s ambitious growth in the region.
Today
We founded Conduit to bridge the divide between in-house and agency hiring practices. Conduit is our iteration of an executive search firm, where collaboration and understanding are the focal point.

Gabriel Hugh
Founding Partner
Gabriel has been recruiting in Japan and Asia for nearly two decades specializing in leadership search.
Prior to starting Conduit, Gabriel served at Uber as the Head of Executive Recruiting, APAC where he established the Asia executive search practice.
Gabriel and his team were responsible for over a hundred executive leadership hires across Uber’s APAC country portfolio; supporting all business lines and key talent advisor to several executive stakeholders.
Prior to Uber, Gabriel was a Director at RGF Executive Search where he established an award-winning Digital Media and Technology search practice.
Michael Christie
Founding Partner
Michael has been recruiting executive leadership in Asia-Pacific for over a decade.
Before co-founding Conduit, Michael was instrumental in supporting Uber’s executive recruiting efforts across Asia. As a core member of the Executive Recruiting team, Michael helped establish the leadership foundation that supported Uber’s rapid expansion across the region.
Prior to Uber, Michael was a key member of RGF Executive Search, where he partnered with Gabriel to build and scale their award-winning Digital Media and Technology practice.
